HIV-1 gp120 from strain AD8, which can infect both T cells and Macrophages.
HIV-1 envelope glycoproteins (Envs) mediate HIV-1 entry and they are assembled into a trimer on the viral particle; each unit of the trimer contains the surface gp120 protein non-covalently associated with the transmembrane gp41 protein.
HIV-1 AD8 Envs are well expressed, highly stable, and commonly used in non-human primate models of HIV-1 infection.
Viral surface protein
The gp120 of the transmitted/founder HIV-1 strain 1059 (Clade B).
HIV-1 envelope glycoproteins (Envs) mediate HIV-1 entry and they are assembled into a trimer on the viral particle; each unit of the trimer contains the surface gp120 protein non-covalently associated with the transmembrane gp41 protein.
HIV-1 1059 was identified as one the strains that can cross the mucosal bottleneck and establish HIV-1 infection in vivo. HIV-1 1059 Envs contain high frequency of common T cell epitopes and the soluble form SOSIP is currently used in clinical trials in humans.
Viral surface protein
Extracellular domain of influenza A virus haemagglutinin (HA) protein (Puerto Rico/8/1934 H1N1 strain).
HA binds to sialic acid on surface receptors of target cells and mediates viral entry through endocytosis.
Influenza A (H1N1) viruses are currently circulating in the population and are related to the flu pandemic 2009 H1N1 that emerged in the spring of 2009.

High affinity 2G12 antibody is a human antibody that strongly binds to high-mannose glycans of the V3 loop of HIV-1 gp120.
2G12 is the preferred antibody for detecting HIV-1 envelope glycoproteins (Envs) on cell surface by flow cytometry, for use in ELISA and for normalizing the activity of any other antibody against HIV-1 Envs.
